Tropical without the syrup, which is rarer than it sounds. Passion fruit gives the inhale its sharp, seedy tang, mango fills out the body with something thicker and sweeter, and lime scrapes the finish clean so nothing sits heavily on your tongue. Together they land somewhere near a cocktail you would order without an umbrella in it.

This is a daytime flavour. It works in heat, it works with food, and the lime keeps it from becoming the sort of sweetness you have to take a break from.

What it is not: a cold flavour. There is no ice in this recipe, and the tartness can read as thin to anyone who prefers dessert or candy profiles. Passion fruit also has a distinctive funk that some people simply do not enjoy.

Lime is doing more work than its position in the name suggests. Take it out of the equation and you would be left with a fairly standard tropical, so anyone sensitive to citrus should probably start elsewhere in the tropical family.
