Lychee is the harder flavour to get right and this device lands it. Floral, perfumed, faintly like rosewater, it carries the syrupy quality of tinned fruit rather than anything sharp. Blackcurrant slides in underneath on the exhale, dark and a little tannic, and stops the lychee floating off into pure perfume.

The pairing is unusual, which is exactly the appeal.
